The Education Foundation of Fair Haven's fundraising will play a critical role in supporting Fair Haven School District's annual operating budget. Most household property taxes do not cover the number of students that are enrolled in the school system.

64% or $24m of our property taxes go to our schools (Fair Haven and RFH) with Fair Haven Schools receiving $16.4m. Fair Haven schools have an operating budget of $19m which leaves a $2.6m gap to be funded by other sources. The 'other sources' are made up of state aid and reserves that are plateauing, decreasing or undependable. This is where the Education Foundation is here to step in.

Due to state law, NJ schools are limited to a 2% tax increase each year. This is a challenge for all NJ school districts since costs are increasing at a faster rate: Inflation (4%-5%), healthcare (10%-15%), and employment costs.
